This course combines the academic excellence of CUI’s Regular Spanish Language Progam with a week in Mendoza, one of the most beautiful cities in Argentina, located in the Western part of the country, with its awesome scenery of the Andes Mountains, the best and most refined wineries in South America, and the warmth of the local population, very much used to hosting thousands of tourists from all parts of the world year round.
15 hours of Spanish group classes based on CUI’s program and guidelines, tourism, transfer from bus station to home stays and vice versa, lodging in family home, the Logistics for the whole program, since the very first day until departure from Mendoza.
The course will have a total of 60 hours, distributed along the 4 weeks in morning periods; 15 of these will take place at Green Fields School of Languages, Mendoza, during the second week .

The classes will be in group, following the programs, guidelines and materials by CUI. Classes are scheduled in three or four days a week in order to leave time for travel activities. Classes are taught in the morning. Transfers are from the bus station to the home stay, and then back to the bus station again to return to Buenos Aires at the end of the program. Green Fields also organizes three cultural tourist programs for the students in the afternoon. Accommodation is in homes stays with half-board (breakfast and dinner).
The rooms are individual and / or shared. The Tourism program is as follows:
Day 1:
Bikes and Wines: Departure at 09:00 a.m. to Maipú in company vehicle. The tour consists of 12 km along which the group visits five wineries: La Rural (with the largest wine museum in South America and the 7th worldwide), Trapiche, Tempus Alba, Viña El Cerino, Di Tomasso and Family Bodega Carinae. Students become familiar with the tradition and mystique that surrounds the wine and learn the process of wine production from the beginnings until today. Visit to various factories: one of liquors and chocolates ("History and flavours), olive oil (" Laura”) and a delicatessen (" Warehouse of the South "), where visitors enjoy a specially prepared menu of gourmet products of the highest quality.
Day 2:
4x4 Combo: Departure at 09:00 from the city of Mendoza towards Potrerillos, 43 miles distance, where we cross the Mendoza foothills arriving at the foot of the Cordillera Frontal (4596 feet above sea level), where our base is located.A range of services are available: toilets, hot showers, two pools, a 1312 square feet deck, music, and an excellent restaurant. The first activity is a 25 minute trekking march, then 130 feet"rappel" and, then"canopy”, three sections of cables across a river. Lunch is “a la carte” (not included). In the afternoon,rafting on the Mendoza along 7 miles,Class III and IV. Return to the city of Mendoza at approx. 5:30 p.m.
Day 3:
Horseback Riding Full day: approx. 6 to 7hs Program. Enjoy the mountains combining adventure with an Argentine barbecue (asado) at the foothills of the Cordillera. The ride will take visitors to our camp, where the view is fantastic:a 230 feet waterfall between the rocks., the impressive Potrerillos Dam, and mountains as high as16.000 feet. The local fauna consists ofcondors, guanacos, etc. Our base camp is located at an altitude of 9.800 feet high,with all the comforts and amenities to rest and eat a typical barbecue, and enjoy the good wine from Mendoza and the scenery.
The program consists of 2 days of skiing in Las Leñas, the most important ski resort in Argentina, and 3 days of Spanish classes in Mendoza city.
SHEDULE
Sunday night: Students take a bus to Las Leñas, arriving Monday early in the morning
Monday: ski all day, spend night in Los Molles (very close to Las Leñas, about 5 km).
Tuesday: Ski all day and when lifts close they take the bus back to Mendoza. Arrive on Tuesday at about 11p.m.
Wednesday through Friday: Spanish classes at Green Field.
The ski program includes:
Transfers by bus to Valle de Las Leñas, the move to Los Molles overnight, back to the Valle on Tuesday for skiing on Tuesday, then back to Los Molles to remove baggage, and return to Mendoza city.
Quadruple room with breakfast the night in Los Molles.
Lifts for two full days of skiing in the Valle de Las Leñas.
Transfers from and to the Mendoza Bus Terminal

Homestay accommodation with half board during the Mendoza stay
The program does not include:
Equipment rental (skis, boots and poles)
Rental of clothing (pants or planter, gloves, hat, etc)
Meals (lunch and dinner)
NOTE: The ski wear can be rented for prices ranging between $ 120 and $ 200 for both days. That depends on where you rent, if in Mendoza City or Los Molles, quantity and quality of clothing, etc. If students have a good, warm jacket and ski gloves, no need to rent it all, would only have to rent the pants. As for the skis it also depends on if you want to rent skis,poles and boots; or prefer snowboard.
The Spanish Language Program for Foreign Students at CUI combines the outstanding academic level of the UBA with the modern approaches and technology used in language teaching by a team of instructors with wide experience.
Our program was created in 1998 to satisfy the growing demand from students and travelers from around the world coming to Buenos Aires to learn the language and the culture of the country. Since then the program has continued to grow and improve in accordance with international standards.
The CUI is well known for the quality of its programs and of its teaching staff. Teacher training is constant during the year, whether in seminars inside the Center or outside.
Immersion is a key factor in the learning of Spanish in Buenos Aires in general, and at CUI in particular. Contact with the language and the culture of the city and the country enhances the learning process and favors a quicker acquisition of the needed skills to interact with Argentine peers, engage in cultural activities, etc. The warmth and welcoming attitude of ‘porteños’ (the inhabitants of Buenos Aires), always ready to help tourists and foreign students, is a bonus in this process..
This placement exam is designed to give students and teachers a preliminary assessment of the approximate level of a student's knowledge of Spanish grammar and usage, before enrolling in our Spanish Program. It consists of 6 levels and includes reading and listening activities; you will only advance to the following level if you have completed the previous one satisfactorily. It should take around 50 minutes to answer the whole exam. At the end of the test, you will see your level and be given a percentage.
