Description
This is a week-long course, Monday through Friday, taught any week of the year. The course aims to those who need to acquire basic tools for handling the Spanish language so as to be able to interact within the environment during their short stay in Buenos Aires.
Placement procedure
Students will complete a written placement test, preferably before their arrival. Once in Argentina, an oral placement test will help to corroborate the appropriate level for each student.
Methodology
Classes will emphasize communicative and functional contents and skills at the beginning (levels 1 and 2) and intermediate low (level 3) levels. Within those 15 hours, students devote 6 hours to applying grammar contents and language usage during situations outside of the classroom. Materials are provided to students.
Three days a week, students will have classes in the classroom. Two days a week, students can choose to start off with a 60 minute class in the classroom and go out into the city with the teacher for the remaining 2 class hours in order to experience first hand and apply the contents learned in class. Students will be assigned to a set teacher who will be in charge of students language learning experience throughout the week.
Evaluation
Teachers will evaluate the students throughout the week. Evaluations will be based on the following aspects of their performance:
• Punctuality, attendance and participation in class activities
• Completion of homework
• Quality of written daily assignments.
Attendance certificates will be awarded by the Centro Universitario de Idiomas – Spanish Language Program for Foreigners.
